Puerto Deportivo de Benalmadena, also known as Puerto Marina, is a seaport located in the Spanish Mediterranean coast (36º 36′ N latitude, 4º 31′ W longitude). It is one of the most emblematic and visited locations in Costa del Sol; that is, the coast of Malaga. It is located in the Andalusian town of Benalmadena.


This marina was inaugurated in 1979 under the name of Port-au-Prince and in 1982 opened as Harbor Marina. It is characterized by unique architecture that has given some recognition among European tourism.


The port is well known for its exotic Arab influenced architecture which in best appreciated in the evening when it is floodlit


It has 1108 moorings for boats, with a capacity of up to 35 m in length and a draft of up to 5 meters. Currently, this is managed by an organization that, in addition to the administration, offers seamanship, phone, fax, security, water, electricity, gas, and dry dock, among others.


Puerto Marina concentrates on a large part of trips in the municipality and accommodates all types of establishments: Maritime, hotels, restaurants, discos, shops, the Maritime Club Nautico Benalmadena, a luxury residential area, an aquarium, and other activities of entertainment in addition to sun and beach tourism. At the entrance of the port is Bermeja Tower, a watchtower from the Nasrid era.


Expansion
The Board of Andalusia sought an expansion of the Puerto Deportivo de Benalmadena in 2009. After this expansion the port gained 825 new moorings and a wider area of Varadero. This makes the Puerto Deportivo de Benalmadena the largest marina in Spain.
